Rog, Kočevje

Rog (; (ドイツ語:Hornwald),〔Ferenc, Mitja. 2007. ''Nekdanji nemški jezikovni otok na kočevskem''. Kočevje: Pokrajinski muzej, p. 4.〕 Gottscheerish: ''Hoarnwald''〔Petschauer, Erich. 1980. "Die Gottscheer Siedlungen – Ortsnamenverzeichnis." In ''Das Jahrhundertbuch der Gottscheer'' (pp. 181–197). Klagenfurt: Leustik.〕) is a remote abandoned settlement in the Municipality of Kočevje in southern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.〔(Kočevje municipal site )〕 Its territory is now part of the village of Trnovec.
==Name==
Rog ((ドイツ語:Hornwald)) is named after Big Mount Rog ((スロベニア語:Veliki Rog), (ドイツ語:Hornbühel), ''Hornbühel'', or ''Hornbichl'', 1099 m),〔(Big Mount Rog at Geopedia )〕 the highest elevation in the area.〔 The name of the Kočevje Rog Plateau ((ドイツ語:Hornwald)) is also derived from this mountain. One of the meanings of the Slovene common noun ''rog'' is 'prominent/exposed hill',〔Snoj, Marko. 2009. ''Etimološki slovar slovenskih zemljepisnih imen''. Ljubljana: Modrijan and Založba ZRC, p. 358.〕 paralleled by one of the meanings of the German common noun ''Horn'' 'highest peak'.〔Grimm, Jacob, & Wilhelm Grimm. 1854–1971. ''Deutsches Wörterbuch''. Leipzig: S. Hirzel.〕
